How did you get here under my skin? Swore that I'd never let you break in. Here we go, go, go again.
"Arggggh." I groaned frustratedly into my pillow kicking my feet childishly up and down.
"You're eighteen. Act like it." My mum huffed and slammed my bedroom door.
When she'd left I stopped kicking up a fuss and stormed across my bedroom to my laptop. I lifted the top with such force I was suprised it didn't snap off in my hand. I angrily opened up msn messenger and double clicked on my best friend Natalie's screen name.
"I was right." I simply typed. I noticed she was replying almost immediately.
"You're moving?!" She typed back with a shocked emoticon face. I nodded to myself, reading as I typed;
"Yup. Guess when." I didn't give her the chance to reply though, as I typed. "Next Thursday."
My phone began to ring almost immediately.
"OMG!" I heard Nat gasp. "You're so lucky!" I shrugged even though she couldn't see me.
"Not really. I thought that at first, but when I thought about it, i'm leaving the prospect of Uni behind, all of my friends, family and oh my god." I gasped. "My car!"
I could have cried at this thought. I loved my car.
"I'm so jealous, I mean come on, who else would complain at moving to the USA. The weather will be so good!" She couldn't sound more excited if she were going herself!
"I don't know Nat, I mean-"
"Lauren. Shut up. For goodness sake, do you know where youre going?!" She asked rehetorically.
"Yes. I do." I sighed wearily.
"Say it with me then." I sighed again, more loudly. "I love LA. I love LA." She chanted.
"I love LA." I mumbled.
"Thats the spirit!"

"I hate airports." I mumbled to my brother and he nodded. Our parents were just sorting out our hire car until the one we'd bought could be brought to the new house.
When a valet pulled the car up outside the airport I dragged all my suitcases towards it and lobbed them in the open boot before sliding into a air conditioned seat and putting my ipod on and the headphones in my ears.
As we drove along the palm tree lined highway I stared out the window at the city that was my new home. I was scared and excited all at the same time, for different things and reasons. Scared for losing friends and excited for making new ones. Scared for falling behind at college and excited for starting a new college and catching up. I didn't know how to feel right now. I was still in vacation mode and realised that sooner or later i'd have to treat LA as my home, not my holiday.
So much caught my attention as we drove. I loved the sights, the bustling streets, the tall buildings, how glamorous it all was, and in some parts, how unglamorous it was. I could get used to living here. I'd have to. But seriously, I think I'd like it.
It was another half hour before we turned down Arcola Avenue. I sat up and took off my sunglasses to get a better look at the street which we were moving down. I smiled. It was gorgeous. Picturesque. Clean and tidy. People were cycling down the street and we let a couple of dogwalkers cross before turning into our drive.
I leapt out when the car had barely stopped. Our house was beautiful. Like a large spanish villa it was cream in colour and had a set of steps left of the drive leading up to the porch. It was dreamy. I turned to survey the street from this view. Ooh. I thought. But not as dreamy as those guys. I watched a few boys skateboard down the street one of them grinding on the kerb. They all had longish hair, mostly unruly. I smiled as I turned to hurry my mum along with the keys. I wanted to get inside and start moving into my new bedroom.
